Culture & nuances
Amsterdam is pragmatic about sex, but locals dislike sex tourism that ignores residents. Be respectful in the Red Light District and never photograph sex workers.
Warmoesstraat and Reguliersdwarsstraat are long-standing queer nightlife streets.
Privacy & safety tips
- Agree limits, safewords and check-ins before you arrive; venue rules never replace your own consent conversation.
- Read each venue's dress code, photo policy and code of conduct in advance.
- Go with a friend or tell someone where you are, and plan your journey home.
- Pace alcohol and other substances; many venues refuse entry to anyone visibly intoxicated.
- Carry barriers and lube, and know where to get PEP within 72 hours if needed.
