Intima exists because most online tools for exploring sexual preferences sit at one of two extremes: either clinical to the point of being unhelpful, or explicit to the point of being unwelcoming. We wanted something in the middle — warm, plain, sex-positive, and grown-up.

Who Intima is for

Adults who want a clearer picture of their own preferences, whether they're partnered, single, recently single, newly curious, or simply overdue for some self-reflection. It is especially useful before a new relationship, or as part of an honest conversation in an existing one.

What Intima is not

• It is not a clinical diagnosis or substitute for therapy.
• It is not a compatibility-matching service.
• It is not pornography or erotica.
• It is not a fixed label — your preferences can and do change.

Our approach

The questionnaire uses standard psychometric practices — a 5-point Likert scale, mixed item keying to reduce bias, and trait-based scoring rather than a single forced category. The trait taxonomy draws on widely-cited community self-assessment frameworks and is reframed in respectful, non-graphic language.
